Middlesbrough fell to a home defeat at the hands of Blackpool at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday. Boro were looking to continue their run, following a 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest. Blackpool, on the other hand, were beaten 3-0 in the previous match against Huddersfield Town. Following today’s result, Boro are in 16th place, with 9 points from 8 matches, while Blackpool sit in 20th, with 8 points from 8.

Boro started the first half well, thanks to Marcus Tavernier giving The Boro the lead at the 8 minute mark, finalising the first half 1-0.

Blackpool continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Marvin Ekpiteta finding the net, 62 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Grant Hall made it 2-1, 78 minutes in to make it 2-1.

Both coaches used the full entitlement. For Boro, Isaiah Jones, Martin Payero and Uche Ikpeazu, came on for Anfernee Dijksteel, James Lea Siliki and Jonny Howson, Blackpool brought on Gary Madine, Jerry Yates and Jordan Gabriel to replace Tyreece John-Jules, Shayne Lavery and Josh Bowler.

There were bookings for Dael Fry and Matt Crooks from Boro. For Blackpool, Jordan Gabriel saw yellow.

Boro will next play Reading away, with Blackpool facing Barnsley at home.
