Barnsley beat Luton Town with a thumping 2-1 victory on Monday at Kenilworth Road. Luton were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Derby County. Barnsley secured a point against Reading in their previous match. After today’s result, Luton and Barnsley are 13th, (50 points) and 5th, (68 points), spots respectively, after 40 matches.

Barnsley started the first half well, thanks to Daryl Dike giving The Tykes the lead, on 27 minutes, finishing the first half 0-1.

Barnsley continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Daryl Dike finding the net again in the 59th minute. In the end though, Luton, on 83 minutes pull-back via a James Collins goal. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for the visitors.

For Luton, Sonny Bradley, Harry Cornick, Kazenga LuaLua, James Collins and Luke Berry, came on for Victor Adeboyejo, Romal Palmer and Cauley Woodrow. Barnsley brought on Carlton Morris, Aapo Halme and Dominik Frieser, to replace Victor Adeboyejo, Romal Palmer and Cauley Woodrow.

The referee booked Sonny Bradley for Luton.

Luton will next play Wycombe Wanderers away, with Barnsley facing Middlesbrough at home.
