Huddersfield Town fell to a home defeat at the hands of Fulham at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Huddersfield wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Derby County in their previous game while Fulham were unable to beat Middlesbrough in a 1-1 draw. As the table looks today, Huddersfield and Fulham currently occupy 20th and 1st spots in the league, with 1 point and 4 points respectively after 2 matches.
The Cottagers didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with Aleksandar Mitrovic opening the rout at the 9 minute mark. The momentum was now with Fulham, who then scored again through a goal from Joshua Onomah at the 37 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Huddersfield weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Matty Pearson at the 41 minute mark. However, The Cottagers secured the points emphatically, with a goal from Fabio Carvalho just before half-time, which saw the first half end 1-3.
Fulham continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Ivan Cavaleiro finding the net at the 77 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Ivan Cavaleiro made it 5-1 just before the final whistle to make it 5-1.
Huddersfield brought on Scott High, Fraizer Campbell and Jordan Rhodes for Alex Vallejo, Danny Ward and Duane Holmes. Fulham brought on Ivan Cavaleiro, Andre Zambo Anguissa and Tyrese Francois, to replace Joshua Onomah, Fabio Carvalho and Jean Seri.
The referee booked Levi Colwill from Huddersfield. Fulham had the worst of it though, with Bobby Reid seeing yellow, and Harry Wilson then sent off with a red.
