Coventry 2 – Forest 1: The Sky Blues enjoy home win and all 3 points

Coventry City’s Mark Robins saw his side to victory at St Andrew’s Stadium. Today’s result, Coventry and Forest sit 5th, (3 points) and 20th, (0 points), in the table respectively, after 1 match.

Red dogs started the game well, with Lyle Taylor giving Forest the lead at the 36 minute mark to see out the first half 0-1.

The Sky Blues continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Viktor Gyokeres, 81 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Kyle McFadzean made it 2-1 just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.

Coventry brought on Michael Rose, Tyler Walker and Jodi Jones for Julien Da Costa, Martyn Waghorn and Ian Maatsen. Forest brought on Tobias Figueiredo, Philip Zinckernagel and Cafu, to replace Loic Mbe Soh, Alexander Mighten and Lyle Taylor.

There were bookings for Ben Sheaf, Kyle McFadzean, Ian Maatsen and Gustavo Hamer from Coventry, and Lyle Taylor, for Forest.

In the second round of action in the Championship Coventry will travel to play Barnsley and Forest will play Bournemouth at home.
