Coventry 1 – Cardiff 0: The Sky Blues jubilant after home win against The Bluebirds

Coventry City beats Cardiff City 1-0 on Wednesday at Coventry Building Society Arena. Both sides arrived at the challenge after previous wins. Coventry were looking to continue their run, following a 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough. Cardiff were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest. At the moment, Coventry are in 4th place on the table and has 15 points while Cardiff sit in 9th with 11 points after 7 matches.

Coventry started strongly in the first half, with Viktor Gyokeres finding the net at the 15 minute mark. They then managed to see out the first half 1-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 1-0 at full time.

For Coventry, Todd Kane and Matt Godden, came on for Ian Maatsen and Martyn Waghorn. Cardiff brought on Sam Bowen, James Collins and Kieron Evans, to replace Rubin Colwill, Mark Thomas Harris and Will Vaulks.

The referee booked Todd Kane and Gustavo Hamer from Coventry and Fankaty Dabo went off with a red card, while Cardiff’s Kieffer Moore also received a yellow.

Coventry will play away against Millwall, while Cardiff will face Bournemouth at home.
