Coventry City 0-1 Preston North End: Preston North End squeeze past Coventry City in 1-0 victory at St Andrew’s Stadium

Coventry on home loss to Preston North End at St Andrew’s Stadium on Saturday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Coventry were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Stoke City away and Barnsley at home, by 3-2 and 2-0 respectively. North End were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-0 victory against Derby County. As the table looks today, Coventry and North End currently occupy 19th and 14th spots in the league, with 51 points and 55 points respectively after 44 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, North End continued to pile on the pressure in the second, with Alan Browne finding the net in the 67th minute, leaving the final score at 1-0.

For Coventry, Josh Eccles, Matt Godden, Tyler Walker, Fankaty Dabo and Amadou Bakayoko, came on for Gustavo Hamer, Maxime Biamou, Viktor Gyokeres, Julien Da Costa and Callum O`Hare. North End brought on Emil Riis Jakobsen, Brad Potts and Tom Bayliss, to replace Sean Maguire, Ben Whiteman and Ched Evans.

There were bookings for Gustavo Hamer, Fankaty Dabo and Kyle McFadzean from Coventry, and Ryan Ledson and Ched Evans, for North End.

Coventry will next travel to Huddersfield Town, while North End will face Barnsley at home.
