Bristol City 1-3 Brentford – Brentford beat Bristol City 3-1 at the Ashton Gate

Bristol City suffered a home defeat against Brentford at the Ashton Gate on Saturday. Bristol were looking to get back winning ways, following a previous defeat to Millwall. Brentford were coming back-to-back wins against Watford and Rotherham United. This left, Bristol and Brentford are 19th (51 points) and 3rd (87 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 46 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Brentford continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Ivan Toney in the 57th minute. The momentum was now with The Bees, who then scored again through a goal from Bryan Mbeumo at the 78 minute mark to establish a 2-0. In the end though, Bristol hit back though just before the final whistle, with a goal from Louis Britton and seeing the game end 3-1.

For Bristol, Zak Vyner, Owura Edwards, Saikou Janneh,, Louis Britton and Steven Sessegnon, came on for Adrian Mariappa, Nahki Wells, Kasey Palmer,, Tommy Conway and Daniel Simpson. Brentford brought on Mads Bech Sorensen, Saman Ghoddos, Bryan Mbeumo,, Emiliano Marcondes and Mads Bidstrup, to replace Ethan Pinnock, Marcus Forss, Ivan Toney,, Tarique Fosu and Vitaly Janelt.

There were bookings for Kasey Palmer, Daniel Simpson, Nathan Baker and Louis Britton from Bristol, and Ivan Toney, for Brentford.
