Stoke City earn hard-fought win over Bournemouth 2-0 on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Bournemouth were looking to get back winning ways after losing 1-0 to Wycombe Wanderers in their last match. Stoke were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Queens Park Rangers. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the Championship season, Bournemouth and Stoke are 5th (77 points) and 14th (60 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 46 matches.
Stoke started the first half well, with a goal from William Forrester at the 36 minute mark, ending the first half 0-1.
The Potters started the second half with an intensified spirit, thanks to Tommy Smith finding the net, 52 minutes in and seeing the game end 2-0.
Both coaches used the full entitlement. For Bournemouth, Rodrigo Riquelme, Chris Mepham, Jack Stacey and Shane Long, came on for Ben Pearson, Steve Cook, Adam Smith and Philip Billing, Stoke brought on Sam Vokes and Christian Norton, to replace Jacob Brown and Rabbi Matondo.
