Hull City fell to an away defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Tuesday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Blackburn arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 2-2 draw against Luton Town. Hull City, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Swansea City. After today’s result, Blackburn and Hull City currently occupy 7th and 20th spots in the table, with 12 points and 5 points respectively after 7 matches.
After an un-eventful first half, Blackburn applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Daniel Ayala giving Rovers the lead at the 61 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Ben Brereton made it 2-0 in the 65th minute to make it 2-0.
Both managers used all available substitutions. For Blackburn, Daniel Butterworth, Reda Khadra and Jacob Davenport, came on for Leighton Clarkson, John Buckley and Tyrhys Dolan, Hull City brought on George Moncur, Ryan Longman and Tyler Smith to replace Matt Smith, Josh Magennis and Mallik Wilks.
There were bookings for Harry Pickering from Blackburn, and Callum Elder and Di’Shon Bernard, for Hull City.
Blackburn will play away against Barnsley, while Hull City will face Sheffield United at home.
