Birmingham 2 – Derby 0- Visitors to St Andrew’s Stadium leave with nothing

Birmingham enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Derby County at St Andrew’s Stadium on Friday. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Birmingham wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Barnsley while Derby had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Nottingham Forest. As it stands, Birmingham and Derby currently occupy 4th and 16th spots in the league, with 11 points and 6 points respectively after 6 matches.

Birmingham started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to a goal from Scott Hogan, 31 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Blues continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Jeremie Bela at the 81 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-0.

For Birmingham, Troy Deeney and Gary Gardner, came on for Lukas Jutkiewicz and Scott Hogan. Derby replaced Jack Kirk Stretton, Dylan Williams and Jason Knight with Graeme Shinnie, Louie Sibley and Tom Lawrence.

There were bookings for Ivan Sunjic and Marc Roberts from Birmingham, and Graeme Shinnie, Ravel Morrison and Tom Lawrence, for Derby.

Birmingham will play their next fixture at home against Fulham, while Derby will face West Bromwich Albion away.
