Birmingham were defeated at home by Cardiff City at St Andrew’s Stadium on Saturday. Both teams arrived fresh from some positive results. Birmingham were looking to continue their run after winning last match whilst Cardiff were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Wycombe Wanderers. As the table looks today, Birmingham are in 18th place, with 52 points from 45 matches, while Cardiff sit in 8th, with 67 points from 45.

It was an impressive opening from The Bluebirds, with Harry Wilson opening the rout in the 9th minute. Cardiff then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a effort from Harry Wilson just before half-time to see out the first half 0-2.

Cardiff continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Mark Harris finding the net in the 68th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Harry Wilson made it 4-0 just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-0.

For Birmingham, Ivan Sanchez, Nico Gordon, Riley McGree, Harlee Dean and Gary Gardner, came on for Josh Dacres Cogley, Rakeem Harper, Jonathan Leko, Marc Roberts and Ivan Sunjic. Cardiff brought on Mark Harris, Josh Murphy and Jonathan Williams, to replace Kieffer Moore, Rubin Colwill and Harry Wilson.

There were bookings for Harlee Dean from Birmingham. For Cardiff, Marlon Pack saw yellow.

Birmingham will next play Blackburn Rovers away, with Cardiff facing Rotherham United at home.
