Man U 2 – Villarreal 1: Red Devils work hard to secure a one goal win against Villarreal

On Wednesday, Villarreal suffer an away defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Man U were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Young Boys. Villarreal, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As it stands, Man U and Villarreal currently occupy 3rd and 4th spots in the league, with 3 points and 1 point respectively after 2 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Villarreal who started the second half well, with Paco Alcacer giving The Yellow Submarine the lead, at 53 minutes. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Alex Telles in the 60th minute, brought Man U level. However they weren’t finished yet and Cristiano Ronaldo made it 2-1 just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-1.

For Man U, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, Fred and Jesse Lingard, came on for Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Alex Telles and Mason Greenwood. Villarreal brought on Boulaye Dia, Pervis Estupinan, Aissa Mandi, Ruben Pena and Moi Gomez, to replace Paco Alcacer, Manu Trigueros, Raul Albiol, Alberto Moreno and Yeremi Pino.

There were bookings for Mason Greenwood, Alex Telles and Cristiano Ronaldo from Man U, and Alberto Moreno, Yeremi Pino, Raul Albiol and Ruben Pena, for Villarreal.

Man U will play at home against Atalanta, while Villarreal will face Young Boys away.
