Wolfsburg 1 – Leipzig 0: Visitors get nothing as The Wolves take points

Wolfsburg’s 1-0 win over RB Leipzig on Sunday, was hard fought at the Volkswagen Arena. Both Wolfsburg and Leipzig arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Wolfsburg were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against BSC away and Bochum at home, by 2-1 and 1-0 respectively. Leipzig were able to continue their winning streak after a 4-0 win against Stuttgart in their last match. After today’s result, Wolfsburg are 1st with 9 points from 3 matches, while Leipzig sit in 10th, with 3 points from 3.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Wolfsburg who started the second half well, thanks to Jerome Roussillon giving The Wolves the lead, at 52 minutes and seeing the game end 1-0.

For Wolfsburg, Josuha Guilavogui, Lukas Nmecha and Omar Marmoush, came on for Xaver Schlager, Maximilian Philipp and Renato Steffen. Leipzig brought on Konrad Laimer, Yussuf Poulsen, Nordi Mukiele, Kevin Kampl and Brian Brobbey, to replace Amadou Haidara, Dominik Szoboszlai, Josko Gvardiol, Tyler Adams and Mohamed Simakan.

There were bookings for Renato Steffen, Xaver Schlager, Josuha Guilavogui and Jerome Roussillon from Wolfsburg, and Josko Gvardiol and Tyler Adams, for Leipzig.

Wolfsburg will next travel to Greuther Fürth, while Leipzig will face Bayern Munich at home.
