Mainz 05 fell to an away defeat at the hands of Stuttgart at the Mercedes Benz Arena on Friday. Stuttgart were looking to get back winning ways after losing 2-1 to SC Freiburg in their previous fixture. Mainz 05 were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-2 win against RB Leipzig in their last match. As the table looks today, Stuttgart are in 10th place, with 25 points from 19 matches, while Mainz 05 sit in 17th, with 10 points from 19.

After a goalless first half, Stuttgart staged a comeback in the second half, following a goal from Sasa Kalajdzic in the 55th minute. Later, Stuttgart scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Silas Wamangituka, 72 minutes in. They managed to see the game out with a clean sheet and a final score of 2-0.

For Stuttgart, Philipp Forster, Roberto Massimo, Atakan Karazor and Tanguy Coulibaly came on for Robin Quaison, Danny Latza, Edimilson Fernandes, Stefan Bell and Karim Onisiwo, while Mainz replaced Jonathan Michael Burkardt, Kevin Stoger, Levin Oztunali, Adam Szalai and Jean-Paul Boetius with Robin Quaison, Danny Latza, Edimilson Fernandes, Stefan Bell and Karim Onisiwo.
