On Sunday, Arminia suffer an away defeat to Köln at the Rheinenergiestadion. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. FC Köln were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 3-0 to Hoffenheim. Arminia Bielefeld, on the other hand, were beaten 5-1 in the previous match against Eintracht Frankfurt. As it stands, FC Köln and Arminia Bielefeld currently occupy 14th and 16th spots in the table, with 18 points and 17 points respectively after 19 matches.
FC Köln scored first, following a goal from Marius Wolf in minute 9. Later, FC Köln took the lead with a goal form another goal from Marius Wolf, scoring his second goal, 28 minutes in, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.
FC Köln continued to apply pressure the second half and were rewarded, beginning with Elvis Rexhbecaj opening the scoring in the 62nd minute. However, Arminia Bielefeld, 73 minutes in hit back via a Sergio Cordova goal, sealing a resounding 3-1 victory for the home side.
For FC Köln Dominick Drexler, Jan Thielmann, Salih Ozcan and Max Meyer came on for Ondrej Duda, Emmanuel Dennis, Ismail Jakobs and Elvis Rexhbecaj, while Arminia brought on Cebio Soukou, Sergio Cordova, Nils Seufert and Mike Van der Hoorn to replace Sven Schipplock, Reinhold Yabo, Marcel Hartel and Amos Pieper.
