FC Köln’s 2-1 win over Bochum on Saturday, was hard fought at the Rhein Energie Stadion. Cologne arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing their last game 3-2 to Bayern Munich while Bochum were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Mainz. As things stand, Cologne and Bochum sit 4th, (6 points) and 10th, (3 points), spots respectively, after 3 matches.
After an un-eventful first half, The Billy Goats piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Louis Schaub, 82 minutes in. The momentum was now with Cologne, who then scored again through a goal from Tim Lemperle, 90 minutes in to establish a 2-0. Bochum in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Simon Zoller, to hand a welcome victory to the hosts.
For Cologne, Luca Kilian, Tim Lemperle, Louis Schaub, Salih Ozcan and Tomas Ostrak, came on for Jorge Mere, Sebastian Andersson, Dejan Ljubicic, Ondrej Duda and Florian Kainz. Bochum brought on Christopher Antwi-Adjej, Eduard Lowen and Silvere Ganvoula, to replace Gerrit Holtmann, Milos Pantovic and Herbert Bockhorn.
There were bookings for Jorge Mere and Ondrej Duda from Cologne, and Simon Zoller, for Bochum.
Cologne will next travel to SC Freiburg, while Bochum will face BSC at home.
