Bayern 3 – Cologne 2: Narrow victory for The Reds at home to The Billy Goats

Bayern Munich’s 3-2 win over FC Köln on Sunday, was hard fought at Football Arena Munich. Bayern wanted to continue adding points following a 1-1 draw with B Mönchengladbach in their previous game. Cologne had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-1 victory against BSC. After today’s result, Bayern are in 4th place on the table and has 4 points while Cologne sit in 8th with 3 points after 2 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on The Reds who started the second half well, thanks to an early goal from Robert Lewandowski in the 50th minute. Bayern looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Serge Gnabry in the 59th minute to establish a 2-0. However, Cologne weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Anthony Modeste in the 60th minute. The Billy Goats looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Mark Uth, 62 minutes in to establish a 2-2. Bayern managed to edge ahead with a second effort from Serge Gnabry in the 71st minute. The game ended with a 3-2 win for Bayern.

For Bayern, Jamal Musiala, Josip Stanisic, Corentin Tolisso, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Chris Richards, came on for Leroy Sane, Nianzou Tanguy Kouassi, Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies. Cologne replaced Mark Uth, Florian Kainz, Anthony Modeste and Dejan Ljubicic for Ondrej Duda, Sebastian Andersson, Tim Lemperle and Louis Schaub.

There were bookings for Niklas Sule from Bayern. For Cologne, Dejan Ljubicic saw yellow.

Bayern next face BSC and Cologne are at home to Bochum.
