Bayern cruise past Schalke, scoring 4 without reply at the Veltins-Arena

Schalke on Sunday lost to Bayern on a home defeat at the Veltins-Arena. Schalke 04 arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to FC Köln whilst Bayern München were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against FC Augsburg and SC Freiburg. After today’s result, Schalke 04 are in 18th place, with 7 points from 18 matches, while Bayern München sit in 1st, with 42 points from 18.

Bayern München started strong and were rewarded, with Thomas Muller opening the rout, 33 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0.

Bayern München staged a comeback in the second half, with a goal from Robert Lewandowski in the 54th minute. Later, Bayern München scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a new goal from Thomas Muller, scoring his second goal to make it 3-0. Later, Bayern München took the lead with a goal form a goal from David Alaba in the 90th minute just before the final whistle. They managed to see the game out with a clean sheet and a final score of 4-0.

As for substitutions, for Schalke, Nassim Boujellab and Alessandro Schopf came on for Matthew Hoppe and Amine Harit, while Bayern brought on Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala, Lucas Hernandez and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to replace Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Alphonso Davies and Robert Lewandowski.

There were bookings for Matija Nastasic from Schalke and Jerome Boateng for Bayern.

Schalke 04 will next travel to Werder Bremen, while Bayern München will face Hoffenheim at home.
