Leipzig eased past Leverkusen in a 1-0 victory on Saturday at the Red Bull Arena. Both RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. RB Leipzig were looking to get back winning ways after losing their last game 3-2 to Mainz 05. Bayer Leverkusen were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Wolfsburg. Following today’s result, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are 2nd, (38 points) and 4th, (32 points), in the league respectively, after 19 matches.

After an uneventful first half, RB Leipzig started the second half on an intensified spirit, with a goal from Christopher Nkunku, 51 minutes in. The game ended with a 1-0 victory for RB Leipzig.

For RB Leipzig Yussuf Poulsen, Justin Kluivert, Amadou Haidara, Willi Orban and Marcel Halstenberg came on for Alexander Sorloth, Christopher Nkunku, Kevin Kampl, Nordi Mukiele and Angelino, while Leverkusen brought on Karim Bellarabi, Patrik Schick and Lucas Alario to replace Moussa Diaby, Daley Sinkgraven and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

There were bookings for Justin Kluivert and Amadou Haidara from Leipzig and Karim Bellarabi and Leon Bailey for Leverkusen.

RB Leipzig will next travel to Schalke 04, while Bayer Leverkusen will face Stuttgart at home.
