Reading eased past Bristol City in a 2-0 victory on Tuesday at Ashton Gate. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Bristol City were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Watford. Reading, on the other hand, were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Millwall. As things stand, Bristol City and Reading currently occupy 13th and 5th spots in the table, with 39 points and 51 points respectively after 30 matches.

Reading scored first, beginning with a goal from Lucas Joao, 43 minutes in. Later, Reading took the lead with a goal form a goal from Michael Morrison in the 45th minute just before half-time. The score at half time was 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

For Bristol, Antoine Semenyo, Kasey Palmer, Tyreeq Bakinson and Han-Noah Massengo came on for Tomas Esteves, Ovie Ejaria, Lucas Joao and Michael Olise, while Reading replaced Tom Holmes, George Puscas, Lewis Gibson and Dejan Tetek with Tomas Esteves, Ovie Ejaria, Lucas Joao and Michael Olise.

There were bookings for Jack Hunt, Henri Lansbury, Taylor Moore and Tyreeq Bakinson from Bristol and Omar Richards, Ovie Ejaria and Michael Olise for Reading.
