Bristol City fell to a home defeat at the hands of Barnsley at Ashton Gate on Saturday. Bristol City were looking to get back winning ways, following a previous defeat to Reading. Barnsley were coming from consecutive wins against Blackburn Rovers and Brentford. As it stands, Bristol City are in 15th place on the table and has 39 points while Barnsley sit in 10th with 45 points after 31 matches.

After a goalless first half, Barnsley continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, beginning with Carlton Morris opening the scoring in the 67th minute, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Bristol City Tyreeq Bakinson, Jamie Paterson, Nahki Wells and Adam Nagy came on for Henri Lansbury, Zak Vyner, Antoine Semenyo and Steven Sessegnon, while Barnsley brought on Carlton Morris, Jordan Williams, Victor Adeboyejo, Toby Sibbick and Dominik Frieser to replace Conor Chaplin, Callum Styles, Cauley Woodrow, Michael Sollbauer and Daryl Dike.

There were bookings for Jack Hunt from Bristol and Alex Mowatt and Bradley Collins for Barnsley.

Bristol City will play their next fixture away against Middlesbrough, while Barnsley will face Stoke City at home.
