Blackburn Rovers were defeated at home by Watford at Ewood Park on Wednesday. Blackburn Rovers arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing their last game 1-0 to Nottingham Forest. Watford were coming from consecutive wins against Derby County and Preston North End. As the table looks today, Blackburn Rovers and Watford currently occupy 15th and 3rd spots in the league, with 39 points and 60 points respectively after 32 matches.

Watford started the first half well, beginning with a goal from Joao Pedro in the 25th minute. Later, Watford scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Ismaila Sarr to make it 2-0. Blackburn Rovers hit back thanks to a goal from Harvey Elliott in the 43rd minute just before half-time to establish the 2-1, thereby seeing the first half to a 2-1.

Watford continued to apply pressure the second half and were rewarded, following a goal from Ken Sema in the 61st minute. However, Blackburn Rovers pull-back, 82 minutes in, with a goal from Ben Brereton, and the game ended 3-2.

Both coaches made their full set of substitutions. For Blackburn Rovers, Stewart Downing, Ben Brereton and Tyrhys Dolan came on for Lewis Travis, Joe Rothwell and Bradley Dack, while Watford brought on Philip Zinckernagel, Ben Wilmot and Andre Gray to replace Dan Gosling, Ken Sema and Joao Pedro.
