The Crew was saved. Amid attempts to move the MLS franchise from Columbus to Austin, Texas, an international campaign broke out to #SaveTheCrew – much to the delight of Columbus Crew merchandise lovers around the world.

They are staying in their original home for the foreseeable future in front of some of the most committed fans in Major League Soccer.

Twice MLS Cup winners and three-time Supporters’ Shield victors, Columbus Crew merchandise is popular in in Ohio and beyond.

The yellow-and-black club colours lend themselves to some particularly eye-catching merchandise, whether looking for a Columbus Crew hat or something in a more expensive price bracket like a Columbus Crew jersey.

The Crew was the first MLS franchise to have its own purpose-built soccer stadium. That’s a pretty impressive accolade given the financial might across Major League Soccer.

As one of the founding members of MLS, the Crew have had over two decades to build up a loyal supporter base and establish their identity.

While their most devoted supporters were initially divided, they came together in the noughties to establish the Nordecke.

The Hudson Street Hooligans, Crew Supporters Union and La Turbina Amarilla were previously split, but when this all changed, the atmosphere became fiercer still at Crew home games and they began to travel together around the States.

NorOnTour grew popular on social media platforms, helping to develop the club’s brand and increase Columbus Crew merchandise sales.

The Nordecke will be sporting everything from a Columbus Crew scarf to the latest jerseys and with a healthy portion of pyrotechnics.

A cult following developed for the club on the back of the attempt to relocate to Texas, only reinforcing a fan base which already ranked among the most partisan in MLS.

Popular Columbus Crew Merchandise

Like with any major sports teams in the 2020s, the range of Columbus Crew merchandise is astonishing.

Whether purchasing at the MLS Store, Fanatics or from the club itself, fans can treat themselves to anything from Crew underwear to face coverings and dressing gowns.

Fans can also look away from the mainstream. Sites like Etsy provide all sorts of unique Columbus Crew merchandise and various outlets offer personalisation of various Crew gear, which can be particularly useful when doing the dreaded presents shop around Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Fans of the Crew could spend days browsing through the MLS Store. There are a whopping 30 categories for the Crew, stretching from home office stuff like banners and phone cases to pet accessories. Every dog is in dire need of a Columbus Crew shirt, of course.

As we’d expect, the majority of products are focused around the black and yellow colour scheme which has long been synonymous with the club.

Fans can pick up a garish bright yellow Columbus Crew hoodie or treat themselves to a more reserved black Columbus Crew hat. In each category, options are plentiful with short-sleeved hoodies and a variety of designs.

Diving into the hat selection could take hours, scrolling through bucket hats, snapbacks, bobble hats and more traditional baseball cap designs. Like the LA Galaxy hat collection, there is a plethora of choice for all tastes.

If you’re heading to the beach and want to keep your MLS colours on show, there are 10 different flip flops on offer across youth and adult sizes. The Columbus Crew merchandise isn’t limited to the beach, sofa or stadium either.

Fans can pick up pickleball in Crew colours and branding. The same goes for cornhole, table tennis paddles and an array of other games including dominoes and a variation of Jenga.

Those particularly desperate to make their Crew fandom public can purchase a Crew flag to plonk in the front yard.

The sports and casual wear departments are stacked. Polo shirts, joggers, running tops and shorts are available in a catalogue of colours and designs. Of course, the Columbus Crew jersey pages are the most popular.

Crew fans can get pretty much anything they want in their team’s colours. The options go far beyond a Columbus Crew hat or shirt. Buying for a Crew supporter couldn’t be much easier.

Buying Columbus Crew merchandise is as easy as it gets. While it might not be as commonplace as Galaxy jerseys or New York City FC gear, there are plenty of Columbus Crew hats, jerseys and hoodies to be found all over the internet.

As with any purchase, keep your eyes peeled for any discount codes that could knock a few pounds off the price. Buying sports gear is only getting more expensive, and as a famous supermarket likes to remark, every little helps.

Columbus Crew History

Columbus Crew has been home to some players who are familiar to Premier League fans. Brian McBride plied his trade with America’s Hardest Working Team, finishing as the club’s all-time leading scorer, a record the USMNT star holds to this day.

Former Birmingham City striker Stern John also featured for the Crew, while Bradley Wright-Phillips joined the club in 2021 following stints with the Red Bulls and LAFC.

Winning the MLS Cup in 2008 and doing so again in the disrupted 2020 campaign, the Crew looked to have played their way back to relevance, but they missed the 2021 playoffs.

Columbus has lifted the Supporters’ Shield on three occasions, first in 2004 before going back-to-back in 2008 and 2009. Since 2009, though, the franchise has not finished in the top three in overall record in any season.

Their tally of three ranks well in MLS history, however, with only DC United and LA Galaxy winning the Shield more often.
